ARTIST BIO
Polla Posavec
Polla has been a practicing artist since she could wield a pencil. She has a Bachelor Degree in Fine Art, a Diploma in Interior Design and has also worked for many years as a graphic designer, particularly in the field of screen printing design, print media and promotional products. In an interesting career twist, she is also a qualified Personal Fitness Trainer as it does the body good to get out from behind the easel sometimes.
Her early work, while diverse, was mainly in the medium of acrylic on canvas or board, with subjects revolving around commmercialism, fashion and pop culture.
Following the tragic and sudden loss of her 31 year old husband of 9 years and partner of 15 years in 2009, only months after the birth of their first son, she stopped painting. A year later, in an attempt to heal and reclaim her life, she started painting again, this time primarily in the delicate medium of watercolour.
Whilst open to anything, her favourite subjects are "life close up" - still life, portraits, animals, birds & flowers. Her love of typographical art is a carry over from her graphic design work.
The world turning as it does, she now lives happily with her new husband on a small, rural property on the outskirts of Perth, Western Australia. She embraces simple country life, aspires to Minimalism and enjoys exploring new artistic possibilities whenever possible.
